Our Story

In 2013, Beth and Evan started Buddha Belly Brownie.  Ever since Beth was a young girl, brownies were among her favorite foods.  Growing up in a home where dessert was equally as important as breakfast, lunch and dinner, Beth and her sister became chocolate connoisseurs.  As kids, they loved helping their mom bake brownies, and when the girls were in their 20’s, brownie-baking became a hobby.  This hobby turned into an obsession, and Beth would constantly experiment with different ingredients in brownie recipes to create variations on her favorite dessert.  After Beth met Evan, he became the official taste-tester, and Beth would mail him boxes filled with brownies while he was away in business school.  Beth didn’t stop there; she continuously shared her brownies and blondies with family members, friends, and colleagues.  After enough people suggested Beth turn her love of baking into a business, the couple decided it was time to make this business a reality and Buddha Belly Brownie was born.

The name Buddha Belly Brownie is inspired by Beth and Evan’s French bulldog, Brie.  It didn’t take long for Beth and Evan to fall in love with Brie after they got her in June 2012.  Later that summer, Beth and Evan were browsing a gift shop on vacation and they spotted a big statue of Buddha.  They couldn’t believe how much this statue reminded them of their little pup, and this became the inspiration for the name “Buddha Belly Brownie”.
